Avencore Carbon Series Active Optical USB Type-C cables provide up to 40Gbps bandwidth and support Video, Data and Power Delivery in a dual-specification solution that far exceeds the length limitations of traditional cooper cabling. Dual Specifications automatically balance data between Video and USB transfer bandwidth, allowing for a versatile connection that simply works in the widest variety of hardware configurations.
Mode 1 / 4-Lane DP 2.1: 40Gbps Video + USB 2.0 (480Mbps) – prioritise video modes up to 12-bit 8K HDR @ 60Hz via DSC, plus keyboard, mouse and/or slow file transfer & 60W PD
Mode 2 / 2-Lane DP 1.4: 16.2Gbps Video + USB 3.2 (20Gbps) – lower resolution video under 8-bit 4K @ 60Hz without DSC, plus 10Gbps read and 10Gbps USB data transfer & 60W PD
This Active Optical USB Type-C cable can operate bi-directionally with USB data only, while video+data links are strictly directional and require a DisplayPort Alt-Mode source. Plugs ends are marked Source and Display for easy, correct installation. A user guide and installation card are also included to aid in compatibility testing.
Power Delivery relies on a compatible USB PD source providing up to 60W. Supports all USB PD charging profiles under 60W total, or 20V/3A. No external power is required, and sources without Power Delivery injection will operate for video and data (without providing any charging to the sink device).
This cable is designed to work in the widest variety of USB Type-C applications, including video and data transfer, for plug-and-play replacement in situations where standard copper cables just aren’t long enough. We are proud of the quality, specifications and functionality of this device, but we unfortunately cannot guarantee compatibility with all current or future hardware. Backwards compatible with Type-C 3.2 and Thunderbolt 3/4 devices including the MacBook Air, and all devices supporting video via DisplayPort Alt-Mode over Type-C. Thunderbolt PCIe functions such as Daisy Chaining are not supported. All specifications are dependent on the connected source and display hardware.
